REAL TIME
MONITORING
Material Condition
Prediction of useful lifetime requires tracking thermal transients, operating pressures, and temperatures and is combined with NDE or inspection data to support material lifetime and fitness-for-duty decision making. To achieve a higher level of reliability and safety sensors along with inspection data are required to provide real-time information for operators to react to changing conditions. SI is meeting this need for real-time material condition awareness via the SI: PlantTrack asset monitoring solution. Using existing instrumentation combined with component geometry and SI algorithms, SI: PlantTrack provides a real-time monitoring solution with accurate real-time life consumption estimates.
VIBRATION
MONITORING
Equipment Condition
Plants undergo equipment upgrades to increase life and add efficiency, and from industry experience we know that upgrades to meet performance objectives can produce unintended consequence, specifically in small-bore piping (<2” OD). When major rotating or piping components are repaired, modified, or replaced, the forcing function and/or system response is likely to change. Although there had been no history of vibration failures prior to modification, the potential for resonance-induced failures increases significantly post-modification. Proper vibration monitoring verified through an expert vibration assessment can expose conditions leading to failure and avoid losses. From small bore piping to large equipment, SI delivers effective vibration monitoring solutions to maintain reliability and performance.
CHEMISTRY
MONITORING
Water Condition
Achieving top plant performance requires a reliance on water condition to meet its intended function, and for water chemistry systems water condition degrades due to the buildup of biofilm. To catch degraded water condition before performance has been impacted SI developed the Biofilm growth detection system, BioGEORGE™, to monitor the effectiveness of a biocide treatment program to ensure sufficient application of biocide for system health. SI developed the BioGEORGE BG4 controller provide real-time monitoring to detect that sufficient biocide is added to prevent micro-biological growth. Real time monitoring versus only relying on periodic effluent concentration results improves plant performance and lowers detection cost.
