Overview of HIgh Energy Piping Services
Fossil plant high-energy piping (HEP) systems, which include main steam, hot reheat, cold reheat, and feedwater piping, are critical systems that require careful maintenance and inspection. Structural Integrity Associates, Inc. (SI) offers fossil and combined cycle clients a full range of HEP services, such as advanced inspection methodologies, industry-leading expertise in piping engineering and materials evaluations, and critical input for run/repair/replace decisions.
Structural Integrity offers a range of services related to HEP Program development and implementation, including using our Vulnerability Index (Vindex) for risk based inspection and PlantTrack, our knowledge/data management system. These are cost-effective tools for maximizing the efficiency of inspection budgets. For HEP systems, we offers the latest in nondestructive examination (NDE) techniques, including Guided Wave Testing (GWT) and linear phased-array (LPA) ultrasonics, to locate and quantify damage in these piping systems.
When combined with our extensive knowledge of industry-wide issues and damage mechanisms common to HEP, our advanced NDE methods can be applied to detect critical service damage such as creep damage in welds and piping, and our combined approach to dealing with identified damage, from metallurgical testing to finite element modeling to code-based repair recommendations, is unmatched in the industry.
