Continuous Noble Metal Injection (CNMI) Skid
Patented technology that provides a reliable, inexpensive, passive method of injecting platinum chemicals to maintain proper reactor vessel internals mitigation and inspection relief.
This passive injection system has a wide range of injection flow capability, high dilution flow and is designed for minimal operator or maintenance intervention. CNMI is a proactive and versatile approach that will eliminate needed existing platinum injection skid upgrades further reducing future O&M costs and extensive labor requirements.
Integrated Flow Distributors (IFDs)
IFDs distribute flow within the bottom tubesheet Filter Demineralizers (F/Ds) more evenly, promoting flow uniformity along the entire septum length, resulting in more uniform precoats and improved resin utilization.
IFD installations in both RWCU and condensate systems have resulted in immediate improved filter run time and both significant labor and disposal cost savings.
Computer Based Process Control System
Modern programmable logic controller (PLC) control panel replacement or upgrade from station’s aging and obsolete electro-mechanical control panels.
The integrated control system provides both a PLC and Human Machine Interface (HMI) which enables operators to perform operations with direct control and visual feedback for more effective precoat operations, cost savings and lower dose.
Biofilm Monitoring Equipment
SI developed the industry leading biofilm growth detection system, BG4 BIoGEORGE™, to monitor the effectiveness of biocide treatment in water chemistry programs and ensure sufficient application of biocide for system health.
The controller ensures sufficient biocide is added to prevent micro-biological growth and provides real time monitoring. Optimizing the biocide treatment approach will save on operating costs while also reducing the environmental impact.
CHEMISTRY & MATERIALS ENGINEERING CONSULTING
CHEMISTRY ASSESSMENTS
Formal gap assessments versus industry standard or best practices and system and program performance assessments. SI has expertise and deep domain experience for multiple systems: condensate polishing, closed cooling water systems, stator liquid cooling, radwaste processing, makeup water treatment, and reactor water clean-up. SI is a nuclear industry leader in the optimization of hydrogen and noble metal chemistry programs and processes to maintain material integrity.
SYSTEM PERFORMANCE
Experience designing and developing hydraulic models to evaluate the cause of system performance issues or to assess plant and equipment changes to improve system performance (ex. power plant uprate projects). Models are both steady-state, and non-steady-state analyses including piping network analysis based on 3-D CAD models, top and bottom tubesheet filter backwash, and flow distribution.
ION EXCHANGE MODELING
Develop and apply models for new demineralizer system designs and develops models that evaluate the performance of existing systems. Our expertise and experience extend to both deep bed and filter demineralizers in all polishing operations including condensate polishing, reactor water cleanup, radwaste, fuel pool, and makeup applications.
COMPONENT
INSPECTION RELIEF
The application for inspection relief is based on achieving key operational chemistry program metrics for IGSCC mitigation, which will result in significant time and cost savings during refuel outages. SI Nuclear industry experts have experience assessing chemistry criteria for nuclear plant components that qualify for inspection relief and provide support throughout the inspection relief application process.
